Some pix of the new rats!

Well, I finally got some decent pictures of my first breeder rats! I've only had them one week, and already they seem to have doubled in size...

Here are the two girls - a black hooded and an albino:

And my lone male (lost his friend) - very pale fawn hooded:

I'll be picking up another male as soon as I get the new tub wired. Thinking of looking for a solid black or (yeah right) a blue. Whatcha think?

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

Yeah, I think I would like a nice black male. At the PetDumb (taking the appropriate name another forum member gave it) here, I saw the CUTEST rat - solid black except for her chest and feet - but she was a SHE, and I don't get animals from pet stores.

Heh, and THEY aren't the dinner... their offspring will be.

    Hey, don't I get credit?

    That black hooded is cute!

I'd recommend going with a black while you are establishing your colony because of various posts I've seen about people having trouble with blues not being as healthy. Once you know you have a good strong gene pool, then you could try to mix in some of the possibly weaker genes.
