    Long Overdue Pics of Mira!

I know I've neglected this for way too long! My little baby is growing up SO fast...it's hard to believe she was just an armful a few months ago! Her last weigh-in was about a month ago when I had her spayed and she was 50 pounds at that time. She's seven months old, today.

Her ears had stood up really nicely for awhile...then the left one just fell over. I kept posting them and then she developed sores on her ear from the tape, so I had to stop until they healed...and since then we've been in the throes of house hunting and commander training and whatnot, and I fear it's too late to get back to taping it. Her mother's left ear did the exact same thing even though her owner taped for a year...she required a bit of extra surgery to get it to stand properly...so we may end up going that route in the future.

Here she is with her pretty ears back in April or so:

And here she is now....she's still heartbreakingly adorable, even with the floppy ear...and heck, it makes her easier to identify if she were to get lost or something....right??? I keep telling myself that....

She absolutely adores her very own swimming pool!

    Blowing bubbles!

    Play with me!

    Princess of the Pool

    Dappled sunlight

    Goofy grin

    Playing dead

(Not really a trick she knows yet...but it sure looked funny!)

My favorite recent picture...I wish the focus had been crisper...but I still love it.

She's REALLY hard for me to photograph. Besides my lack of skill in that area anyhow...she sees the camera and she either takes off in zoomies or she shoves her nose at the lens and slimes it. Action shots always turn out to be nothing but blur. Ah well...I'll keep trying! LOL

She's a big goofy moose and I love her to pieces!

Very hammy! But she'll usually strike her best poses after she's slimed the camera lens, so I miss the shots.

Hehe...thanks! That's what my daughter says, too. It's just the perfectionist side of me that gets irked by it, all the expense for me and trouble for poor Mira. It's a shame it's not perfect. However, I couldn't love her any less because of it...and could not love her any more just if they were perfect.

Currently, no, as living situation cannot allow for a new dog..

Once things get more stable, absolutely. I've been wanting a Dobie for 10 years now..

What a CUTIE!!! Gotta love the reds, they're extra special.

How long has her ear been down? You're probably right, at this point she's probably going to be a 50% crop'n'flop, but there are surgical procedures that might be able to help. Stringing is the most popular. If you end up going that route, let me know - and I can get you the names of a few vets that can do it well.

But ears can sometimes be saved... when I met my friend's dobe Maya, her ears were flopped over her head at 6.5 months old... after a little more than a month of corrective taping by me, her ears looked like this:

    And now, a year later:

Re: Long Overdue Pics of Mira!

How long did you have to do the corrective taping for that one? (Gorgeous, btw!)

Mira's ear has been untaped for 4-6 weeks now. Her mother had the stringing procedure done on her left ear and it looks fine now...so I'm guessing that's what we'll end up doing.

We've got a cross-country move ahead of us at the end of this month, though, as well as closing on a new house....so any unnecessary expense and stress is being avoided if possible until that's done and we're settled again. This will also be our first move with a dog....should be a bit of an adventure.

I've read countless threads about taping...seen many videos...watched my vet carefully. So far as I can tell, I was doing it right...but sure wish I had someone close by to help make sure. I don't suppose you live either in south Texas or NW Florida, do ya?

EDIT: Duh...nm...you just posted pics of flooded parks!
