How old are they? And how old were they when you got them?

Re: my asf's dont want to "do it"

Actually I have been having the same problem with one of my females. Initially, I bought 1.2 trio (as adults) and one female was fat within 3 weeks and I seperated her to let her raise her babies in peace. She had 14 babies and i left them all with her hoping they would all breed together. The other female I bought was with the male for over 4 months with no signs of pregnancy or babies. I know the male can get the job done but is there any hope for that female? Should I feed her off? I dont want to hijack this thread or anything but its basically the same issue as far as i can tell so I think its a waste of time to make a new thread about it...

I have 1.2 in a 10 gallon tank with things to chew on, food, and water. I don't separate them, play with them, or bother them other than to clean the cage and they do really well.

Barry White, candle lit room, massage oils, and some "together time" should get them in the mood

Re: my asf's dont want to "do it"

ASFs are funky when it comes to sexy time... I never see mine making the love.

But if I re-introduce a female all the males have to dash over and make the moves. Watching an ASF work his magic while she is running on the wheel is both tragic and funny at the same time.

They are alot like gerbils that way.... they are not into PDAs, and will mate the night the female gives birth.

I would leave them together if the females are pregnant, they are communal pup raisers and do a really fantastic job of it.

You can not miss a preggo female. They look like an acorn.
