neeed help finding a place to go through for free site.

    Hey,
I am trying to figure out what place would be best to get a free site from, it would be for my photography, but also for some stuff like personalized tshirts/mugs/mouse pads, so on, but like i have no idea what uhh place would be best for hosting that kind of free site, not to mention give me enough freedom in designing the site...

so if anyone has any ideas, i have tried free webs, they only let you have 20 pages, and i cant really do that lol.
i used tripod a while ago, for radom 12 year old crap that i did... whatever dont really like it so much...

so yeah let be know if you know of a good site or something thankss

You can register your own domain ($9.99 a year) and have free hosting through http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/default.asp

Or you can use yahoo geocities (no personal domain) http://geocities.yahoo.com/. If I remember you are limited to 15 MG with geocities.

Not free, but I'm registered and hosted with 1and1.com. If you need a more robust site than what the free are offering, you may have to just go with a paid site - they really aren't that expensive in the grand scheme of things.

Re: neeed help finding a place to go through for free site.

I'd recommend www.1and1.com as well. I was told and have found it much better than godaddy. It's not free but very, very reasonable. The "Home" plan is $4.95 a month which you pay for 6 months at a time. When you sign up you get 3 months free so the first amount you need to pay to get the site is only $15.00. Six months later you would pay them $30.00 so your first year is only a grand total of $45.00. That's very reasonable and their WebSiteBuilding tools are extremely easy to use.

I caught a post on dealnews.com that Microsoft Office Live has free domains and hosting for the first year so I signed up. It's not as easily flexible as I'd like but definitely gets the job done....if anything it's nice for the free domain

    Good luck!

Re: neeed help finding a place to go through for free site.

You can register a name with godaddy for 9 bucks and then find a good hosting service for like 20 bucks or less per month.

People like yahoo and godaddy have plans for cheap virtual hosting.

Heres a link to yahoos offer...

8 bucks for the first 3 months and 11 bucks thereafter...

    not bad...

Paid services, even the cheap ones, are going to be far more superior to the free junk that's around.
