    ASF Thread

Alright, so I was just thinking that because there have been a million threads in the past few weeks about ASF's I've been wondering something..

WHY?! When did these little guys become so popular!?
I bought them at a pet store at the beginning of the year to breed for snakes thinking they were just a weird breed of mice. Where the heck did these guys come from? I've never seen them before.

Also, I thought I would post a few pictures about ASF's.

This is my breeding setup.. it's nothing fancy.. I've been reusing that top tank for pets and breeders for years now. The bottom tank is just a newly purchased 10 gallon for the main breeders.
They never leave that wheel on the top.. All 7 of them try to cram themselves in there. Next week I'm moving one of the girls from the top tank to the bottom for another breeder. I weened most of the babies early so that they would stay small for my snakes.. an adult is edible to my corn but only barely.. and definitely not for my ball.
    Top Tank: 5.2.0
    Bottom Tank: 1.1.0

This two are my main breeders. The lighter one is the female and the dark one a male. Their genes prove that almost all their babies have the same dark coloration.

This is the food I've been feeding them. I bought it temporarily because the store was out of feeder blocks and I feed seed mix to the main breeder anyway.

This is how I the little female in the top cage. I hold all of them like this.. it doesn't seem to hurt them and they kind of relax themselves when I do it. Of course I'm gentle.

This is a nice shot of her. She is soo cute.

I almost want to frame that picture I like it that much. :]

So who one here has ASFs and why?
    When did you get them?
    Pictures?

    Re: ASF Thread

Got mine a little under 2 months ago to breed for snake food. I've known about them for a long time (since I got into snakes), but opted for domestic rats because these were still legendary for being devil dogs.

AW MAN. I've never had full color ones. D:
I got super unlucky genes. D: Nothing new or interesting ever. Super cute though!

I didn't want to breed rats because their so big.. and I would die if I got bitten by an angry momma rat. :[

    Re: ASF Thread

I got mine on March 9th (Montreal Expo) of this year.

A few pics... (my original 2.2 are super aggressive, but I currently have 3 litters I have handled and they are great so far).

    Ok... one last one.

Dude, when are you gonna snap some pics of all the artwork? Your house seriously looks awesome from the small snippets I see in photos.

I'll do an art pic thread... in the next few days. Might be fun to see what people like.

If so, none of the black velvet posters would be framed.
