Dobies are awesome!!! there is an "albino" in the paper shop magazine the other day, but it was really a blonde one, they didnt know...... Rock was barking at cars going by, and just fell over dead.
The best way to tell a fawn from an albino is to look at the markings - a fawn will have rust markings, but an albino will have white markings. They are partial albinos, which is why they have ice blue eyes - not pinkish red.
I'm sorry about poor Rock... his is not an isolated case. Was the vet sure it was an aneurism? 99% of the time when a dobe drops dead, it's because of Dilated Cardiomyopathy - the #1 killer of Dobermans.
Exceptional photos!! You can really see that the breeders took great care in their breedings. It really shows.
Thank you! Ronin and Ilsa (the Dobermans) are actually cousins - they share a grandmother. Their breeder has been breeding for 40 years, helped develop the breed's temperament evaluation, and has consistently had dogs in the Top 20. Health and longevity of her dogs is phenomenal - she's got a few teenaged dobes still running around her house! She surprised me last time I visited, when she told me the red doberman bopping Ronin in the face with her paws was 13 years old... Pride barely looked 6 years old, I had no idea she was so old!
