Look what my cat dragged in...

My first garter snake! I'm not sure this is "technically" field herping but since it's pics of a garter snake I figured this was the place. I've never seen one here, we have a ton of turtles, rabbits, otters, ducks, frogs, and foxes around and it's about time a snake showed up. She actually caught one yesterday too and let it go before I actually saw it (mom yelled and she dropped it and ran away.) Today she brought this one onto the back porch and meowed to be let in - I think she was proud. I was horrified and picked him up and looked him over and he didn't have a single mark on him. Took a couple quick pics then released him in the garden way at the back of our yard. He didn't seem too shaken up about the cat attack, but I really hope she stops doing this (last year she kept sneaking the same dead chipmunk into the house... ugh)

Here's a picture of the fuzzy snake hunter -

I know - isn't she great? She drives me nuts though - her and her sister always feel the need to be as close to your face as humanly possible, and have this awful nagging siamese yowl, lol, I love them anyway

My mom lives up the road and has 5 cat at the barn and they bring up snakes all the time. Even little copper heads sometimes but they all have the heads missing. These cat all have no tail and longer back legs longer than normal. They kill everything they can catch.

Oh yes!! Last summer, my boyfriend was upstairs on the phone and turned around to see her holding this giant dead chipmunk, just waiting to give it to him. He didn't know what to do so he tried walking away and she just kept following him! I picked her up, chipmunk and all, and put her outside. Didn't stop her from sneaking it in again later though, we found it on the stairs, and then again in the bathroom. I think she was confused that he didnt like it... lol!
