NO PICS of "NORMALS"?
I am looking to buy some "normal" BP pairs ( w/hets). I've run across a few breeders and advertisements that won't send pictures of the snakes. I am a hobby/breeder and have started a small collection. My animals are pets first and (maybe) breeders second. I find the variations in "normals", what I prefer to call classics, not only interesting, but possibly indicative of potential offspring. Now I know that for some they're a dime a dozen, but when I'm looking to spend 200-500 dollars on something, anything, be it a Ball Python, pair of shoes or a box of rocks, I'd like to actually see the product first! It just seems to be a poor business practice IMO, and I know if they're willing to lose my patronage because it's too much to ask for a picture then so be it, but I also know I will not return to them in the future to buy any high-end morphs either...Has anyone else had experience with this?

Ummmm, I'm not sure what breeders you're going through, but I have never had a problem with any breeder sending pictures of normal het snakes....
TSK has their stock (including normal hets) on their web pages. NERD and 8Ball will gladly send pictures. Ralph Davis is another good guy. Heather might have some; same with Jas. Tons of great people who breed will surely send pictures. What type of het were you interested in?

I'm proud of my normals.. I always send pics when someone wants them. Just as easy to take a pic of a normal as it is a morph!

The way I figure it whether you are buying a high dollar morph, a less expensive het or a lovely normal you deserve the same level of customer care. As long as you as the customer realize that sometimes bigger breeders have time issues especially going into hatching season and that can cause some delays. Research your breeder, buy from someone that you feel comfortable with and offers the snakes you like and you'll do fine.

I agree. I want to see any animal I buy normal, het, whatever. They are my pets first also. I'm the one going to look at the animal for the next 20 years. I want to like what I see.

Re: NO PICS of "NORMALS"?
I cannot imagine dealing with a breeder that won't send you a pic of any snake.
Normals are involved in breeding projects so seeing them is just as important, not to mention you want to get a snake that you identify with, for whatever reason.
Easy solution... email them... tell them no thanks and tell them why they lost the sale.

Re: NO PICS of "NORMALS"?
I agree with you I would want to see the animal as well. I have no problem sending pictures to anyone who is looking to buy an animal from me. I personally prefer reduced pattern animals so if I have a choice when I choose a het I always gravitate towards the reduced pattern ones. You should be able to choose which animal you would like.

This is to show that I wasn't making this up and is from a breeder that most of you have at least probably heard of. Thanks for the replies I really wasn't sure if this was a common practice with BP's, I'm just getting into them now, but never had a problem like this with corn breeders. I don't think it would even be too much to ask for a BP WITHOUT hets. peace, kyle
