dubias or not
ok I have a leopard gecko and a yellow throated plated lizard as well as a rose hair tarantula. Is the dubias roach a good feeder choice. Also if I breed them, will they over-run me. I have a spare 29 gal tank with screen and UTH.

They are a GREAT feeder choice, much better than lobsters at least! They grow a little slower but they make much better feeders than crickets. I wouldnt say you would get over ran to fast, you can try to sell some off if you get to many.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

ok how many should I start with? Has anyone heard of New York Worms? Is there a better supplier? I know I'll need to get some eggcrates.

Get as many as you can get! I started with 500 lobster roaches, but i think dubias cost alot more so that might be out of the question. I think ive heard of new york worms, but you might be able to find some cheaper on kingsnake in the feeder section.

Re: dubias or not
I loved my dubias. I wish I never would have sold them I am going to start a new colony soon.
They are a perfect feeder roach. I fed them to cresties, my tokay, leopard geckos..
They won't over run you though, they are a slower breeder. I wouldn't worry about that at all. They are also a much slower roach in general compared to others.
They love warmth, I kept mine at about 95 degrees. They love veggies, and roach diet too.
I got mine from blaberus.com. Great guy!

Re: dubias or not
I forgot, I started with 100 dubias and within 7 to 8 months I had 600 +
I started with mixed lots though. Meaning I had adults and nymphs shipped to me.
If you want the colony to grow fast start with more, and more adults!

Guess I should have waited until i got home to purchase them. New York Worms is a lot more expensive. Oh well I got 50 roaches coming.
