    Baby Racks / Shoebox tubs

So, with baby season upon us, I was wondering...

With a 6qt tub, how long do you leave your babies in there before moving them up to a 15qt?

    Size reference would be great.

Personally, I still have 07's in there from last year that just prefer being in smaller spaces, and go off of feed when I move them to a larger tub.

Anyone else have experiences or comments on this?

    I still have an '06 in a 6qt tub.
She won't eat in a 15 qt or larger tub.

The one '07 will be moving out in a month or 2.

The rest of the ones in the 6 qt tubs are '08's.

I tend to move them out as soon as they aren't able to get away from their messes.

I had two small '07s, each about 250-300 grams that I just moved into 16qts tonight, from 6qts. I found that they were getting a little too cramped, so I got them something a little bigger! And the one thats not in shed ate her first f/t a little bit after putting her in! Thats my good girl

I had one female who was an 05 that wouldn't eat in anything bigger, so she was in until 800 grams. Most of my snakes are out of 6qt's by 500-600 grams.

I've got '06's in 16 quarts - they are in the divided 32 quart tubs from HerpEnclosures. Over 1000 grams and they won't eat if moved to bigger. They take up about 1/3 of the space in their portion of the tub.

Re: Baby Racks / Shoebox tubs

I typically move our babies out of 6 qts. and into an ARS rack at about 500 grams. However, I usually don't move an animal out of a tub unless it stops eating. That always seems to be a good indicator that it is ready for more space. As for the ARS baby tubs, I usually leave my animals in there until about 1000 grams, but also use the stop eating message as a clue that they are ready for a CB70.
