    As soon as I thought "how come I never see any wild snakes..."

    I turn a corner and see this lil' guy sunning himself on the trail!


    I was ecstatic! I go hiking at least 3-4 times a month, and I had never seen a snake yet. Tried to get a bit closer, but the lil guy was fast and sprung right into the bushes. I believe he is a Coastal Patched-nosed snake, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

    WOW I would think you'd see wild snakes all the time in Cali - We take the kids for walks in the summer down the prairie paths and see snakes ALL the time. Garters mostly, but I've come across a few that were huge that I couldn't identify.
