Video of beardie drinking from water dish

Just came across this video. I have never seen a beardie drink directly out of a dish before and thought it was neat. I have used the dropper method before but never thought of it as a way to train them.

Not really needed, if they do not have the time to mist their dragon they should not get one. All she is doing is tricking him with the droper, i doubt he would start useing it on his own. I also see a few flaws with her set up. A dragon that size should be in a much larger tank, and no reptile should ever be housed next to a window. On a hot day the glass to they tank could fry her dragon. Its a good project, but misting really is the best way to do it if you want a happy dragon.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

My beardie has been drinking out of his water dish since he was a month old, do people usually have a problem with this?

Re: Video of beardie drinking from water dish

Its a nice method, not bullet proof, and it may not always work, but worth a try, as long as the water bowl does not shoot the humidity up, it shouldnt be a problem, just change the water daily as in a hot enviorment it gets nasty fast.

Beardedragon, Ive seen the maker of the video on a different forum, He has made changes to his set-up per the advice of others, and its better now, and along lines of the other great stuff people have. The vids a little over a year old i beleive. His current tank (larger), is a solid wood and im assumed moved. It is now fine, so dont worry about that.

Though dragons are hydrated through all methods, IMO they will drink if they have the need, they normally can not see standing water so associating it with a dropper, which is associating it with water, in a sense works theoretically. They also absorb water through there vents, and dropper and misting there head works good. There are many methods to a healthy happy dragon, It aint all black and white.

But he did come up with a relativly nice method, its worth consideration if you want to teach them to drink, Mine only drinks in his baths. Useful if you dont have the extra time to bath them as often.

    Have a great day,
    Ben

My beardie won't normally drink from the water dish. If I place her paws up on the side of the dish and use something to swish the water around where she can see it, she will often bob her head in and take a hearty drink.

When I had my bearded dragon, I put a water dish in his cage when he was a newborn. He started drinking from it and until then day I sold him, always drank out of the dish.
