Addicted?
I've been hearing from all over that these guys are addicting, and I can definitely say it's true since I was already planning what to get next, before I even got my first girl! I'm wondering how long it takes, on average, before you go from the casual BP owner, til you get your second, and then til you go all out and spend half your paychecks each year on snakes
Really though I'm just trying to get a feel for how long would be a reasonable amount of time to wait before I get another one

Re: Addicted?
I think a reasonable amount of time is long enough to buy another tub setup and make sure you can keep appropriate temps and humidity. Then again, my girlfriend has the ultimate say, which is why I only have one so far... Just be sure practice good quarantine and keep them separated from each other for the first 30-90 days after bringing home a new one and you should be good.

Its up to you if you have your husbandry down and are capable of it why not now. LOL Just make sure you have the room. That was my problem I had to make a custom enclosure for all my snakes and I still have tanks all over the place(dont care for racks) . lol

Re: Addicted?
Mine started with a normal. I had no idea what was out there. Then i bought a pastel for $100. It seemed reasonable. Now i have hooked my wife on it and she wants one for herself......A PIEBALD FEMALE.... What happened? I went from spending $100 dollars to a potential of $2500....geez. oh well i brought it on myself.

Cause I want a pewter and I don't have the monies now hehe
But hopefully I will be getting a "real job" in the fall and will have more of that than I know what to do with (yeah right I already know what to do: buy more snakes!) My husband and I have been students for so long we don't know how to spend even the money we're making now (as grad students lol) so I'm sure there will be some left over come this time next year. So I'll probably pick up an '09 baby....or two...when they start popping out

Re: Addicted?
I have had my normal female BP for about 22 months, and have (in the last few days) become enthralled with the idea of breeding. I am trying to acquire a simple morph to breed with my female in the next season.
So I'm not sure how long it takes to become addicted, but I know I am. And my gf loves them to!

Re: Addicted?
I tend to be a 'collector' with hobbies in my life, and I know all too well how much time and money can disappear before you know it!
As a result, I FORCE myself to wait one year between animal purchases. Animals are a lifetime commitment for me, so I want to be sure I don't rush into anything.
I am glad I did, since I learned a LOT about each animal and what my preferences were as I gained experience. The purchase I would have made a year ago is no longer the purchase I would make today because of that growth period.
Also I feel I am able to dedicate plenty of time and attention to each new animal because they are the only new one! I think it leads to stronger bonds and fewer mistakes.
The anticipation and planning is half the fun anyway

Re: Addicted?
I am fully addicted...
There is no doubt in my mind what so ever.
I would love to have the patience to wait until I can produce what I want before going out and buying it....
I am not buying any more until the Shows.
NO MORE
