    Humidity way too high

    Hey!

I have a tub with like 10 holes on long sides and 6 on smaller sides and humidity is still 85%! Even if I take the water out it stays that high!. What do I do?

    Re: Humidity way too high

I would try putting some more holes into it. In my tubs I have around 20 holes on the long sides and around 15 holes in the shorter sides. These are holes made with a soldering iron (the cheapy one you can get at walmart). But the number of holes you would need is dependent upon the conditions of your home and where you live.

I would try putting in a few more holes all around, see how the humidity does after awhile, and if necessary keep repeating until your humidity gets to where it needs to be. Also use a small water bowl and place it on the cool side of the tub. Another thing, what type of substrate are you using? I use newspaper in my tubs to help keep humidity down.

    Substrate: Newspaper
Water bowl: is small and on the cool side
Living in: Los Angeles. In my tank I ALWAYS had trouble keeping humidity above 40%...and now its the opposite lol.

Are you going through a seasonal change that affects overall humidity in your home? If this is the case as it is in our house you may have to add holes going into the summer and then tape them back shut in lower humidity months.

Cut a hole in the top, cover the hole with hardware cloth, and use the piece you cut out as an aperture to control how big the hole is.

Double check your humidity guage. They screw up all the time. Once they get wet or something they are done. I live in L.A. and it aint too humid here thats for sure.
