I Dare Ask
I know there are already a lot of threads for Helix and Herpstat. Im sorry for making another one. My question in this thread is "What is it about your Helix/Herpstat htat you like?" Im stuck between getting the Herpstat ND or the Helix, the thermostat is going to be used for a incubator. Im going to use a Johnson Controls for my rack. Please dont get mad at me for posting another Helix Herpstat thread .
Thanks

Re: I Dare Ask
I've never used Helix, but I love my Herpstats just because they seemed cooler looking and had a good reputation.
I've heard from both sides, but I have not had any problems with my Herpstats, so I am a return customer due to it.

Re: I Dare Ask
I've seen a few "helix failure" threads lately.
what I like most about my herpstats is the ease of use. I barely cracked the manual to get it set up. It's as simple and straight forward as it can get

Re: I Dare Ask
I use Herpstat, I have 2 once for my racks and the other for my incubator, I just really like herpstat, can't talk about Helix as I don't own any.
the thermostat is going to be used for a incubator
If you are using an herpstat get the regular one for your incubator.
You will not need the ND since ND is for night drop, and this feature is not needed for an incubator.

Re: I Dare Ask
I own both and like both. Simple to use (they come with manuals?!) and solid performers. I got the Herpstat II because it can run two different sources and I needed that. You can't go wrong with either one so just choose (eeny-meeny-miney-mo) and get it.

Re: I Dare Ask
I have a Herpstat and I love it, well worth the money to put your mind at ease. As mentioned earlier it couldn't be easier to use, dont even need the manual.

Re: I Dare Ask
Well the reason I was going to use the ND for the incubator is because it has resetable fuses. When I was talking to the owner he said that it would be good because if you had a power spike or somthing that made one of the fuses brake you wouldnt have to send the hole thing back and be out of a thermostat.

Ditto on this. The herpstat is SUPER easy to use. I puchased my first one, Dion was so good about shipping it out that day and answering all my questions very quickly.
I purchased a second Herpstat, needed it in a hurry, so before he built it (yes, he builds them to order, and still gets them out same day), he changed the shipping to next day for only $15. When I got the second one in the mail, took me about 3 seconds to set it up.
Never used Helix, but get a herpstat.

Re: I Dare Ask
I use Herpstat for my racks and Rancos for my Incubator. The Rancos easily keep my incubator with less than 1 degree of variance. The Herpstats on my racks keep them within 0.2 degrees.
