Rico catching his food (live prey)
I am a firm believer in feeding live prey to my bp Rico. It makes snakes much happier and active in my opinion. However I DO supervise every feeding and am ready to help if he gets a nasty bite. Otherwise I let Rico obey his animal instincts.
I feed him in his actual tank but remove his hide because it's bulky and gives him more room to feed and hunt. However I like to leave his water bowl and the small tree (replaced it today though) in there to let him hunt around it (once again to simulate natural hunting).
Sorry, was just giving some background info so there are no questions about what I left in the tank or to be careful with live prey.
Watch till the end for a little fun.
Okay, enough blabbing I know all you want to see is the carnage. So without further adieu:

Re: Rico catching his food (live prey)
I love it! I agree, I like feeding live as well. I feel that the snake is also happy, and do not have to worry about any dethawing problems( I accidentally over cooked a mouse, went to squeeze it to see if it was done and it popped in my face...) and out of three snakes my live feeder has grown faster on live. He also catches them EVERY time by the face in his mouth, I could see problems with biting, but he does not give them a chance!

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

He used to have pretty bad aim.. as a good amount of ball pythons do (for whatever reason). It would take him 2 or 3 times to hit a moving target. But now he gets it perfectly every time, he's a beast
