    Sea Kraits????

So, does anyone own these snakes, I know they are aquatic, and highly toxic, but are said to be one of theeeee most docile snakes on the planet. Anyone have any experience with these? Are they bread in captivity?

I have no experience but I have heard that they are difficult to keep in captivity.

In addition to needing specially shaped oval or round tanks, you would also need to keep them at the correct air and water temps, salinity and have a strong biolfilter to manage all the waste they produce.

I have also read that they need both underwater and out of water hiding spots. They are also apparently finicky eaters.

I am sure that since there are many species, that some may do better than others in captivity. There are several families - the Hydrophis, Enhydrina, Acalyptophis and Laticauda.

I'd check any info on Byran Grieg Fry (Venomdoc) as he has done a ton of work with these animals.

    Pat,
I know they are bred in captivity, as I remember seeing a normal and an Albino in Daytona in 2004. They used to have a "hot" show back then. I have a picture of the Albino, and as soon as I can find it, I'll post it. I don't remember who the breeder was, but I thought I would answer part of your question.

Since it was revived... the Venom Lab that produces snake venom has some kraits. They said they are docile during the day, and not docile at all at night. They did not keep theirs in a tank at all, and said it was not needed. Theirs were in a rack. I think I posted a picture of one we got to see.
