    ASF family

Just a couple of fun pics of a few of our ASF's in colony #1.

These babies don't actually belong to the female you see on them. She's the dominant female of her colony though so even the babies she doesn't birth herself, she does the majority of the nursing and baby rat care. Apparently she's a Type A personality rat and believes nobody can do it as well as she can LOL.

A couple of the "big kids" are helping out and often are left to watch over the "little kids" if the adults want a break.

A rare view of the litter. Most times somebody's sitting on them but we'd just put in full food bowls so all the juveniles and adults were off busy eating for a moment.

    Re: ASF family

I'd love to see an albino, red eyed ASF. I've never seen one before. Here's a pic of our original breeding trio when we first got them....

Little Momma is on the far left, Big Momma (the dominant girl in the other pic on the litter) in the middle, and Big Daddy on the far right.

I am over run with albino asf's....If anyone would like any I am in NC....I think that the females retain sperm because after I get 10 or so females pregnant, I feed off the male....the moms have there babies and then a couple weeks later they have another litter sometimes up to 2 more litters after the first!!!! With no male even alive that is able to breed!!!
My original albinos came from normal looking parents and I believe alot of enbreeding "spelling"? happened and out popped albinos!!
so now most of my breeding stock is either albinos or het albinos....

    Re: ASF family

I have no idea what those sort of full colored, striped face ones are called. I found this website...

    http://www.batwrangler.net/multimammate/

but it doesn't show that sort. I have one female that looks like your striped face one and she has a lot of stripey faced, non-pied markings looking babies. Anyone know what that sort of coat color/markings are called with ASF's?
