Nice looking Ball! I like the less green and more tan/grey appearing normals.
You really need to add a hot side and cool side hide. That half round of a tree will not help it feel to secure. Also do you have an under the tank heating pad? Should look at the sticky on the site for setting up glass tanks. It will give you some really good hints on how to make your snakes life more comfy!

Pretty snake! But where did the water bowl go? Also, as stated before you need 2 dark, snug hides on a cool and hot side.

Re: new royal python owner!
well, a few things have changed since these pictures were taken, and i didn't have any new ones to post when i started this. First, i have two lamps, the heat lamp shown (150w) and a new full spectrum light (60w). when i bought the enclosure, the pet store said the heat lamp would be sufficient, however the temps were way to low all around, about 85 on the warm side, 69-74 on the cool side, so i got the other lamp. it has helped, but i still think my cool side is a bit too cool, about 75-78. i added cardboard to the back and sides to help address the security issue, and it seems to have helped somewhat. i am trying to avoid buying an under tank heater because when spring/summer hits, the room will be much warmer on average. right now i'm just trying whatever tricks i can to get the temps up. on the bright side, his basking area is at a very nice 90-92*.
to answer other questions, he shed just before i bought him, so i don't think i'll see that for a while. the substrate is the shredded coconut stuff. also, i added the water bowl just after these pics were taken, so no worries there.

Re: new royal python owner!
how are you measuring your temps and humidity? that 150w light will suck the humidity out of that tank, if i was you i'd get a UTH running off a thermostat, best thing you can do for your snake

Re: new royal python owner!
for temp i have an infrared gun. still need to run up to walmart and get a humidity sensor. the pet store that i got everything from said to wet down one half of the substrate, so that as it drys it keeps the humidity up. although, after reading more care sheets and different threads, i wonder how well this actually works. sometime in the next few days i should have the right sensors.
also, to address some of the concerns voiced above i have rearranged the hide to be much more secure, with one side against an opaque wall, the open end facing the center of the tank, with more cover in front of it. i should have more pictures up in the next day or so with the updated tank.
