    Total surprise here...

So I am going through my morning rounds yesterday. Spot cleaning cages, changing water, blah, blah....What the heck is THAT???

I found two babies in Mamas tank.. Mom that laid the mystery egg that just hatched...

So I go back through my records that I have been keeping of when she has laid all the dud eggs and her weight. I did not find any eggs in October. She laid Sept.3rd, Nov.3rd and Dec. 12th (One fertile).

So...Here is what was laid in October.. In the potted plant, that she HID from me lol. She has pretty much always used her nest box. Or so I thought.
Now I have two extra little cuties.

These two had to have hatched between Friday night and Sunday morning sometime.

    I know I can't believe it lol

From a female that I didn't even breed.. poor mama has had such a rough start. She will be spoiled rotten for the rest of her life, with a nice tank all to herself. She definitely deserves it!!

No way! Congrats--that is just super awesome! I can't believe they all hatched out so close together--that's just weird unless she was egg bound for a month and laid 2 clutches at the same time. Who knows--it doesn't matter now! The second one has gorgeous cream.

    Re: Total surprise here...

    I know I can't believe it.

Well she would have laid these two in Oct. So they would have been incubating at room temps.

I had just thought she didn't lay any eggs back in Oct., but I think missed them being in the plant pot, and not the nest box.

I didn't even think that was possible for them to lay two clutches at a time, but if she was egg bound that would explain it.

I just love the second little one. I can't wait to see that one grow.
