    Lesson Learned

I started a thread about a month ago, maybe two months ago about my ball with mites. Well thankfully, with everyone's help, he is completely mite free, and I'm really glad I found this place. When hearing about everyone's '07s and how big they are, I started to realize that he was remaining really undersized. I had taken the pet shop's advice and fed him pinkies and eventually fuzzies. I got here and learned that I was still feeding him too small of prey. I bumped him up to adult mice as soon as I ran out of fuzzies (and had been giving him 2 fuzzies a week) and he's packing on a little size, he gained approximately 50 grams since then. Anyhow, I got a fecal sample this weekend and got it to the vet as soon as I could, well turns out I've been feeding parasites for the past 6 months, that's why he's so damn small.

Lesson learned, I have an appointment to take him/her for a check-up, get treatment, hopefully get sexed, and whatever else on Monday morning. I can report though, that after some difficulties, my set-up is now excellent, with temps in the range and FINALLY with a complex humidity set-up (which is actually really neat-o) humidity is right on as well. Now as soon as we're all better from the parasites, I should be golden.

Oh, and I'm never buying from a pet store again, obviously.

    Re: Lesson Learned

Thanks for the comments guys, I'll admit, I run a message board myself and post on a couple others (this is the only snake one of the bunch) and I'm not really used to FRIENDLY people. haha I really appreciate helpful comments and I was always trying to do what was best for my snake. I thought I had done appropriate research but apparently, I hadn't. This site has really helped me out and now that I'm doing things right, it has really built my confidence. I'm hoping that maybe by next year I will be comfortable and have done enough research to start a small breeding project and go from there. I'm not about to jump into something I'm not ready for though, and it's very unlikely that my little current pet will be used for breeding unless it proves to be a female and I get her big enough, which I doubt... haha

Really though, thanks to everyone for direct and indirect help!
