    giant white cricket???

Ok so my wife just got back from petsmart with a carton of crickets when I noticed that one of them is about 1.5 times the size of the largest one we've gotten yet and completely white with big white wings. Any ideas what it is? is it safe to feed to her African fat tailed gecko??

More than likely a large adult that had just molted.

    Re: giant white cricket???

the white, freshly molted crickets are super safe to feed--they are nice and soft because they haven't hardened up yet (once they do their color returns to normal). i enjoy hand feeding freshly molted crickets to one of my geckos who only really eats crickets every once in a while when i give them to her by hand. mmmm, it's like a nice filet mignon!

    Re: giant white cricket???

Thanks for bringing back nice memories I used to have a pet toad as a kid, and my mom would buy crickets for it. We would sometimes get one of those larger-than-life-looking white ones, and my mom would be positively grossed-out by them! She could handle normal-looking crickets fine.. but not those yucky ones I am going to have to bring this up to her.. I never knew the real reason behind this either.

thanks. Never seen one like that before. Boots (my wife's fat tail gecko) ate it down no problem.
