    2 New Trios of ASF's

Just picked up 2 new trio's of ASF's. Seem very calm and even like to be pet. Lets see how that holds up once they start breeding.

If you work with them a lot you might be able to keep them tame, but in my experience the adults bite hard. I'm bleeding a little bit from a bite on my knuckle right now.

I've been breeding ASFs for about six months and think they're great. I can keep huge families in a single aquarium with no stink and cooperative nursing. They grow slowly compared to mice and rats, but reproduce in greater numbers.

As my colony grew I discovered that they don't all look the same. I have blond/red eyed ones, gray/black eye, and brown/black eye with patterns as extreme as all gray, and all white but for a small cape-like patch. Most do look exactly the same though.

    Good luck keeping them tame!
