    I dunno either

I got harley from some guy who could not keep him anymore. I have no idea what his age is, or if he is a male or a female (The previous owner named him). Anyway to sex him?

I wanna upgrade to a longer tank, with sliding glass doors at the front. The previous owner built his current tank, and it is impossible to heat. Right now i have a heat pad to the left, and a heat lamp under the cage.

    http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...Picture015.jpg
The door on the top is solid wood, and there is no way i could put a heat lamp up there, no heat would get in.

Heat lamp on bottom is currently the primary heat source, temp holding at 75, not hot enough

I think you'll find that if you spell it correctly as "Shih Tzu", it won't trigger the board censor.

Is Tazz as snuggly as he looks?

Harley is pretty...my boy Hacksaw says that if she's a girl he'd like to meet her. He is such a horn-snake. *rollseyes*

Looks like you're having a bit of trouble with the humidity though...is there any way to put heat tape under the cage and seal it better? As I'm sure you've discovered, heat lamps just suck the humidity right out.

Edit: Forgot to add, I see you are using those stick-on dial thermometer/humidity gauges. They aren't really accurate enough (at all) for the ranges that ball pythons need. Many of us use and recommend the Acurite brand indoor/outdoor digital thermomenters that you can buy at Lowes or Wal-mart. Put it in the tank at ground level, so you are measuring the zones where the snake actually is and use the probe to measure one end and the box to measure the other so you can check your gradients. There can be a huge temperature difference between the bottom of the tank and the top.

those are old pics, I have two digital thermometers on each side of the tank at ground level, one side is 76, the other is room temp. I recently got another heat lamp as well, but it did not do much, thankfully the coconut bark subrate holds heat REALLY well.

I mist the cage every two or three days (every day when shedding). Should i do it more?

Do you mean the basking spot is 76F? If so, this is much too low. Most keep temps on the basking side around 92-95F. What are the ambient temps? If you don't have a hygrometer, you can get one very inexpensively from Lowes, Target, Home Depot.... They'll let you know just what your humidity is.
    Handsome herp you got there!

i know its to low, and it really, really bothers me.

The cage that came with harley from the previous owner was built by him, and there is no other way to get heat in there besides sticking the lamp on the bottom.

Maybe i will try heat tape, or just go crazy with heat pads.

I have had him over a year, and there have been no problems so far, but I want to make sure he is happy.

I read in another post where somebody suggest that they turn the tank on it's side. Would this work with your tank, even if you had to do a few mods? Or, how about building another lid for it with cut outs for the heat lamp?

Tazz is so cute! I thought my golden had a sad looking face. Holy Cow!
