What scale to buy?

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering; what is a good digital scale to buy?

I was searching this site but didn't realize that there were so many options and brands! I'd like to get a scale that will serve Salzedo into adulthood, and will also be sensitive enough to accurately weigh food.

What is the maximum weight capacity of the scale for this purpose? I don't want to get something that has a huge capacity I'll never need, but I certainly don't want to get one without enough.

I bought a scale used for cooking, it was around $30 and has a limit of 5000g. I found that a lot of the cooking scales are priced cheaper for some reason and accomplish the same goal in the end.

I use that same scale and really love it. Don't waste your cash on the AC adapter, the thing never seems to go through batteries at all. I'd suggest you contact that supplier and ask if they ship to Canada or if not, if they can suggest a Canadian supplier for this product.

We weigh everything from the smallest rodent to our largest snakes on it. The bowl it comes with is a bit small for some of our biggest female BP's but an old big plastic salad bowl easily does the trick (gotta love that tare feature and the hold feature).

Here is the same scale its a bit cheaper. I have had one for a few months now. It is much better than what I was using im very happy with it. This link is also where I bought it from. Great shipping will buy from them again.

Wow, thank you so much for all the quick replies and suggestions. That model looks fantastic! (And I love how everybody knew that by "food" I meant rats. LOL) The Canadian site I mentioned in my original post did have this model in stock and I was able to buy it for $55.90. More expensive than if I bought it from one of the US sites that were mentioned (and which I did appreciate!), but I am actually saving money on customs and duties - not to mention that I'd be paying almost the entire difference in savings on the 'international shipping' fee anyway.

I don't know if other Canadians face this issue, but I get slammed hard with cross-border taxes and customs charges every time I buy something over $20 from the US. Even on books clearly labeled "educational material." I was once charged nearly $30 on a book order that was only worth $20. Its really quite sick. Oh, and my stuff usually sits around the customs office for a couple of weeks before they decide my books are not cleverly disguised bombs and ship it off.

So, for the sake of my wallet and sanity, I paid the blood money to get it from in-country. (Rant over. LOL)
