New pic of my two year old BP baby.

he is still growing strong .. haven't had an issue yet with him eating .. he is now up to 1 adult mouse every 2 to 3 weeks and most all of his sheds are 1 to 3 peices at the most ...

a funny thing happened while taking the pic .. my wife wanted to hold em .. as soon as she went to pick him up .. he decided to releive himself on the bed sheet ... of course she is not all that happy with him at the moment .. so i guess we are both in the dog house .. or snake house ... hehe

Thumbs down Re: New pic of my two year old BP baby.

An adult mouse every 2 to 3 weeks? Wow. I feed my 6 month old baby that much every week.

You can probably feed a bigger meal every week. Just my 2 pennies. Congrats on the 2 years!!!!

congrats on the two years...but how big is he? how much does he weigh?...i agree 1 mouse every two to three weeks isn't healthy at all, mine is almost a year and a half and he's been eating small rats for a while now...every week...as a hatchling he ate small mice.

Re: New pic of my two year old BP baby.

For example. My baby girl is 200 grams. Eats 20 grams of food a week. Growing strong. And steady. 2-10 gram hoppers a week.

I'd say at 2 years old small rats in the 45 to 65 gram range would make him extactic!!!!

Re: New pic of my two year old BP baby.

with the full sized mouse i tried for a bit feeding him every week ... but he didn't want it half the time .. so i cut back to every two weeks ... but every now and then he still didnt want it .. but at 3 weeks he will take it every time ...

tried a rat .. but he would not touch it at all for some reason ..

i do not know his weight ... but right at 3' long .. and about 4" in dia ...

what i am calling a full sized mouse is about 3.5" long not counting tail and about 2" to 3" in dia ...

ever since i have had em ... he hasnt wanted to eat every single week ... but every other week he would ... when it was smaller stuff ... when i moved up to the full sized mouse is when he was waiting longer before taking it ...

    these are f/t

Re: New pic of my two year old BP baby.

Real fast. What's his temps on the hot and cold side? Ambient temps. And humidity.

And if he's a mouser. Try feeding 2 mice a week at least. I would look at environmental factors to see why he won't eat as much. Along with other things.

Not trying to bash you at all. I hope I'm not coming off that way. He's just not getting a whole lot of food. And I'm just trying to look out for his health. Thanks for the replies.

Re: New pic of my two year old BP baby.

    heh
    humidity is sitting at 60%
    hot side is at 89
    cold side is at 81
fresh water kept up ... cleaned out subst' every couple of weeks ...

to feed him 2 a week of the ones i feed now ... i do not think he would take them (tried it before) .. i would have to go down to a smaller one for him to take more then one at a time ...

Re: New pic of my two year old BP baby.

Hmm sounds ok except for the warm side being a few degrees low. Mine sits at 55 percent humidity. 82 to 83 cool side. 92 to 93 warm side. That's weird.

Mines an eating machine. Have you ever had a fecal float/smear test done?

Are the ambient (air) temps in the enclosure in the low 80's?

Sorry for all the questions!!! Is he in a high traffic area? How big is his enclosure?

Sorry to hear about your bed sheets!!!!

Re: New pic of my two year old BP baby.

    amb stays around 85 ...

not high traffic area ... in a room that only i go into ... etc etc

enclosure is a 20 gall glass aq with latchin screen top (that i keep partially covered for the humidity)

as for the test thing ... there is no vet around me that will touch a snake or anything relating to one (called the ones within about 3 hours that i found in phone book, tried contacting the local zoo to see who they use ... cant get a call returned)
