    Oil Painting in Progress

Let me preface this post with the statement I'm no professional painter by any stretch of the imagination.

However, a friend of mine liked my work enough to commission a painting. It's still got quite a bit of work left to do, but I'm pleased with how it's coming along. The color/detail is a little off in the photo, i think it may be because the paint is still pretty juicy. Anyway, just wanted to share.

:-) Have a great day! Thanks for taking a look.

Nice! I like to take something and get an impression on it; not exactly realism.. Impressionism. Your work looks like that. I always say, if I wanted something that looked just like a photograph of something, I would snap one of it!

That is AWESOME! I love it. Did you come up with the idea or did your friend? Are you doing it from an idea or from a still life? I love it!

My friend wanted something with poppies and she left it open ended for me. I got the impression the color was more important than the representation of the actual flower. They don't really look all that much like true poppies, kind of like poppies crossed with violets, but I'm not a realistic type of painter anyway.

If I try to do a still life it lacks life and energy, looks really stilted. I'm way too loose of a painter...so I wing it :-)

Beautiful painting! I have a tendency to cross flowers when I paint them but mine look terrible next to yours! Good work
