New enclosure, feasible?

Has anyone ever built something like this or seen one? My monitor has outgrown her large tank and I am about to build a custom one. My thought is to make it a coffee table enclosure. Somewhere around 3x5 or a bit larger. What I was thinking was 2 sides wood, 2 sides tempered glass and them a screen top. On top of the screen top would sit "legs" on each corner so I could put glass a few inches above the screen. This way she still gets fresh air coming in, I can put a heating element above the screen and below the glass and I can use it as a coffee table as well. Any ideas on the best type of wood to use, what to seal it with that would be safe and is this even something that would be possible? I appreciate any input.

Hmmmm... it would make for a very interesting conversation piece that's for sure!! Sorry I can't help you out with your questions though. But good luck with it!!

I think that actually sounds like a great idea. You could use 2x2's as the legs and use wood for the bottom. If you use heavy enough glass you could do all four sides with glass. I've seen a fishtank as a coffee table before, so it would work.

How big would the entire thing be? Recomended cage size for adults is 8' x 4' x 4'.

What about the cleaning problem? I had a glass coffee table keeping a few geckos. I just lift the top to clean and feed.

But I think a monitor would need feeding and cleaning much more often than geckos. And the smell????
