    Baby bearded with adnevirus

I just found out my little bearded that hasn't done well since I got her has adnevirus. I have treated for all the secondary problems but she just won't get any better for me. The vet says its andevirus but we are waiting on the fecal to return to find out on both dragons.

Where did you get your baby from?

    Re: Baby bearded with adnevirus

I got her from a local breeder that just happened to have some babies for now. I got the call while at work that my girl passed away today. It was andenovirus confirmed and we fought the last month to help her but it just wasn't enough.

I'm very sorry to hear that.

It's my understanding (albeit a very limited one) that this virus is very contagious. Was this little one isolated from the rest of your lizard collection?

Is this breeder telling people that the breeders have adeno? What is the name of the breeder?

    Re: Baby bearded with adnevirus

From my research it is species specific so only beardeds can get it. I had her in the same cage as her clutch mate at first but since she had so does he more then likly but I had no idea it was this disease and adopted him out so I contacted that person to let them know. I also aquired a red dragon that was in her cage for a day so we are having him tested from the university of FL to find out for sure. It is very contagious and if one baby has it more then likly so does any other dragon that was in the same cage including other clutch mates. I am praying since he was with her for one day the red dragon doesnt have it but if so then I will keep my eye on him and get help asap for any secondary problem. The breeder was here in Vegas and not a big one that said he was getting out of it. I had no idea about this virus till now and I just bought the babies (2 orginial) off him from craigslist. I have tried to find his add again but he's not even on the site any more and for the life of me I can't remember his name. I know that is bad and I shoulda had better records but I did leave a message on cl that I was tryng to contact him. It's been a month that I had her and she never seemed right and we treated for the secondary issuses already but it was just to much for her tiny body.

    Re: Baby bearded with adnevirus

There are some real unscrupulous breeders out there who keep this to themselves until they sell out then disappear.

It's a shame that you got caught up in this. The expense, both emotionally and monitarily can be prohibitive.

    Sorry for your loss.

    Re: Baby bearded with adnevirus

After the add I posted on craigslist to let him know I got a response from a few people telling me they had the same thing happen and had the narcoscopy to confirm adneovirus. He knows they are sick and is selling them still. Is there any thing I can do or is it something not really lawed about?
