Unhappy Fred the kitten is sick

I took Fred---as we're now calling the kitten I adopted---to the vet this morning. He's been having diahrea, is starting to reject food, and has been pretty listless the last day or so.

The vet tested him for coccidia and worms and didn't find anything. He gave me some antibiotic---I'm supposed to give him 10 cc a day and force feed him to get some fluids in him.

He said the diahrea could be caused by stress, change in diet, anything really.

It's pretty nasty. Very runny, smells bad... I feel so terrible, because, when/if he walks, he waddles because it hurts him so badly. Plus, the area around his tail doesn't stay clean for more than an hour or so.

Is there any other advice you guys---tech vets!!!---can give me to keep him comfortable and clean? Are there any pet-safe wipes or something? Please let me know... I've fallen head-over heals in love with this little dude and want to see him happy and healthy!!!

Thanks Jess! I actually just got to work at 11---had to call in and tell them I was taking the kid to the vet---but I'll give you a call this afternoon/evening on my way home. Will this work okay?

Thank you for all your help!

    Lynn

My cat, Peeker had HORRIBLE dieraha for the first 4-6 months we had her. Long story short she has a very very sensitive stomach and can't eat normal cat food at all. She was put on Hill's Prescription Science Diet I/D Canned Cat Food. It helps her water intake too and she no longer has bad litter poo issues.

Re: Fred the kitten is sick

Jess---slartibartfast---has been giving me some AWESOME advice for keeping him hydrated and warm. He's still eating very little for his size, but a LOT more than he was. He's not inclined to walk around much and sleeps most of the time... but his eyes are pretty clear, and he struggles and meows when I pick him up... all things he wasn't doing just this morning.

*sigh* Please pray for this little dude guys!
