I saw what I assumed were crows.. then they looked too big and i thought they were ravens.. nope. Vultures! They were congregating out in the front field around a dead woodchuck.. good eatin's I guess.

    Re: Vultures!

Why weren't they eating the woodchuck? I see vultures in the sky so much that sometimes I think they never find food. Great pics, by the way.

    Re: Vultures!

we get flocks of vultures alot. Where we live there are tons of deer and that's usually what they are cleaning up. They tend to sort of congregate in the area. I think they simply can't eat it all at once but they aren't going anywhere until its all gone.

    Re: Vultures!

Yeah, they tend to pick at the carcasses until there is literally nothing left. I guess that the can even digest bone. Wow!
They are ugly birds but for some reason I find them fascinating.

I must be one of the few people that think turkey vultures are beautiful in flight.

    Re: Vultures!

You can tell if it is a turkey vulture in flight by the wings. If its a turkey vulture they will have a V-shape when they glide. Just a interesting fact that you all might enjoy.
