Re: African House Snake headshots (DUW)
Well, I just know Pandora is going to tag me one day...she's an absolute sweetheart once she knows it's me, but she's almost always looking for food, and anything that moves is a potential meal. So, they're the most likely to draw blood even though their temperment is great. lol

Re: African House Snake headshots (DUW)
Hi,
Well Enkil is the spitting image of my male which the balance of judgement says is a capensis.
Pandora looks a lot like the one he says people call lineatus or fuliginosis but that he thought might be another undescribed species. He labled it west african house snake in this post on saltwaterreptiles.
Have they bred together?

Re: African House Snake headshots (DUW)
I've not had them very long yet. I purchased them as a trio. The male is locking up with her. No way to know yet how the eggs might do...I'm getting so many conflicting opinions on their species, including from people who breed house snakes, lol.
At least I'm 99% sure the male is a capensis.
This is the other female:
Worst comes to worst, I may have to go on a grand hunt for a male of Pandora's species...whatever it is... lol
I love her personality, by the way, she's much calmer than the other two.

Re: African House Snake headshots (DUW)
Hard to say as always in pics but I would lay odds you have two capensis and yep that big gal is a fuliginosus.
On getting tagged, if is does happen my advice is let it happen do not pull back. House Snakes have about the longest teeth relative to size I have ever seen. I have been tagged a bunch of times by one of my young wild caught females. Never any pain, always some blood and she is still very small. My wife got tagged by her and jerked back, quite a bit of blood and a bit of sting for such a small snake.
I have had a few nips by some bigger ones too, again no pain and just the typical tiny holes that bleed. So do not sweat it and if one takes a chomp again no pulling back. Overall most of them are wonderful in attitude though. With the exception of the one b*&!ch all my other tags have been from inside a hide with I am sure the expectation of feeding time and all of those have been very mild,

Oh, I'm not worried about it, the little guy already nipped me once--but he didn't even manage to break the skin. I've been bitten before by many. lol
