    Beginner Question

    Hello all,

I am contemplating about getting a bearded dragon (not in the immediate future, but my interest is high). I searched the forum and couldn't find out whether or not it is healthy to feed BD's strictly pellets and greens. I read some where they will eat the pellets, then you're good to go.

The reason I am asking is that pellets seem easier to feed than crickets, and that they are already infused with vitamins.

But I'm not going to get a BD for convenience, obviously .

Please let me know what you all think..

    Re: Beginner Question

Some will never eat pellets. Beardies, like most lizards are attreacted to their food (bugs) buy their movement(did you see Jurrasic Park?). Some will eat pellets but I would recommend that as an addition to crickets and chopped greens not a replacement.

The pellets also have to be moisten in water to make them soft which makes them smell like wet cat food. And then can't be left for more that a day or so or they will mold and get yucky.

Crickets, greens and an occasional meal worms is the way to go. Pellets as a suppliment, if you can get them to eat it. some will, some won't.

Beardies are very friendly as far as herp pets go especially as they get older.

It's amazing how quickly you'll end up adapting to crix. Amazing and kinda disgusting.
I'm actually switching over to roaches- less mess, less smell, less noise!
