    First hatchling ate!

The first baby out of Ginger's clutch ate tonight. They were still tubbed together for this feeding, b/c Mark's saw is not here this weekend and we need it to make the hatchling rack. I actually constructed a weird setp with the FW on a desk, the tubs atop it and heavy melamine over them to lid them/weigh them down, with airholes melted into the tubs for ventilation; mopre on that later. Here goes! Ginger's little normal daughter ate; it was an awesome sight to see a baby eat for the first time!

    All finished up!

Your pastel boy is one that I will be feeding tomorrow. I have them in their seperate tubs now but wanted to give them time to settle in.

It was just super. I am enjoying all of the firsts that come with this being our first successful breeding and hatching season.

    Re: First hatchling ate!

It is awesome. 2 more ate today; not sure who yet. I know that one of the pastel boys ate, but I heard a squeak afterward and have not gone over to check it ou yet. I am using a permanent marker to make a tally of what is eaten on each snake's tub, as I would forget instantly and get mixed up as to whom ate if not.
I am feeding mouse hoppers/crawler sized for now. I have a steady supply of moms and babies from a local pet store, and all three of my mother rats are pregnant now but no rat babies.. and the other ratlings grew too fast and are hoppers now themselves.
