    nice simple hide

I picked these up in the dollar aisle of the grocery store I work at (Now THAT was hard to explain why I was buying all those. People were impressed when I told them though ) They were two for a dollar.

Just melted an entrance in it with a soldering iron (I made sure to soften any sharp points)

And there you go! All done, ready to start hiding some herps. For my whole rack's worth of hides, it only cost me $11. ONE exo-terra hide of equal size costs about 8 dollars. Think before you buy your hides.

    Good idea

I found some that were pretty similar, but they were 4 for $1. I also found some souffle bowls(about 2" across and 1" deep) that are perfect for hatchlings, not easily tipped over and were 4 for $1 too. I love Dollar Tree!

Congrats on the cost effectiveness and functionality of your hides for your racking system. =)

But please don't knock those of us who don't like nor use racking systems nor tubs...I enjoy my naturalistic vivarium setups and I am thankful that Exo-Terra and other manufacturers make naturalistic and functional hides and water dishes.

    Re: nice simple hide

Yeah I use plastic bowls from wal-mart that were 6 for $1 and I use the terra cotta pots that are less than a dollar, chip out an entrance and then smooth down any sharp edges.
