Congrats what kind of set-up are you going with?

What are your temps/humidity looking like right now?

    Welcome to the addiction!!

Congrats.. blood pythons are great snakes. They grow fast and are really impressive animals.

Re: Just purchased my first blood!

Ill probably be bringing her home in a couple of weeks. but shes a young one.
I have a 50 gallon reptile tank I'll be putting her in also. It use to be my Redtail boas tank.. but i got scarlet a huge 7 ft. enclosure to put her in.. so I'll be putting the blood in the 50 gallon.

now the trouble if figuring out a name for the little girl :-/

Re: Just purchased my first blood!

If she's that young, she needs to go into a 6qt or 15qt tub, not a huge 50 gallon tank. That would be setting her and you up for a big failure. She would stress out to the max and would likely not eat for months.

    Exactly!

Heed Becky's advice on this. Small blood + big enclosure = unhappy snake. Young bloods aren't as forgiving of husbandry problems as many of the other commonly-kept python species.

Congrats on the purchase. I cannot wait for my new black blood to shed/have a few meals so I can get my grubby little hands on him! I'm jealous. *pouting face*

Re: Just purchased my first blood!

I have plenty of the 10 gallon & 20 gallon tanks for her to stay in until shes big enough for the 50 gallons.. shes probably about 2 ft. right now.. shes just not very old or anything.
but once i get her home Ill post pictures
