    Pet portrait of Darkangel's husky

I just finished this for Amy. I thought I'd post it here too and see what you guys think. I'm quite happy with it (the low resolution scan doesn't do it a lot of justice though)

Re: Pet portrait of Darkangel's husky

    Very nice...

    Constructive critique:

Looks like you have shapes and proportions down very well. A lot of the shapes used helped bring out some depth in the drawing. Not sure how much more contrast there is on the original (I know scanning can ruin a good drawing), but it may help to use more than one kind of pencil. I have a lot of luck with using just two types: HB and ebony. Ebony can give you darker lines than the HB with little effort. The ebony pencil would have worked well in this drawing in the darkest areas, like the skin around the eyes, the dark fur, and the dark parts of the nose. If you wanted, you could still grab an ebony and add a few strokes here and there in the dark areas and watch your drawing "pop out" with added contrast. I think perhaps a lot of details were lost in scanning, it looks like you have some good texture changes from the medium length fur to the shortest fur to the nose. I am betting there is also good texture for the long fur inside the ears and the soft tongue, I just can't see it on the scan. One last thing... I am not sure what the composition is like on the original or if you cropped it down some when you saved the file, but it looks like the composition could be a bit more appealing with a little more negative space on the left side of the image.

Awesome job though, I love realism.
