They are awsome animals. I've only ever seen one up close. All others have been through a t.v screen or computer screen. I've heard that if they are found in your house you should leave them alone because they will eat the insects in your house. Some people keep them as pets too.

I love mantids, I often find them around my house and they're great fun to feed the left-over crickets to. I'm really glad you didn't post the guy giggling about the mouse and the mantis in the jar, because although I have no problem with the naturalist type informational videos, this guy was kind of a sicko and it was awful how much joy he got from the mouse bleeding out and dying slowly. but yeah, sorry for the rant.
I have been looking around sometimes for orchid mantids but every time I talk myself into buying and egg case theyre always sold out, it's really amazing how popular they are.

Awesome videos! They're amazing, aren't they? I bought an egg case of them from a biology catalogue and set it outside. Now there's a bunch of babies around here.

Where can you get an egg case? They seem like really cool animals. They look so strange and so beautiful at the same time. Like a little alien.

go to any decent garden store, they'll sell mantis egg cases, you can also find lady bugs there en masse as well.

I intentionally didn't post that one lol
Thats all we need is for an argument to break out over that. There are pics of a mantid with a humming bird on the net that are pretty cool

    Re: Mantids!!!

i have a colony of matids outside of my back porch they love the azallias and every spring summer i go out take 3 or 4 babys and house them in a 48x48x48 screen enclouser and the rest i let stay outside. i had one mantis that would eat right out of my hand, and the others i had to let go since they werent doing well in captivity. this morning i was excited to go out to my back porch and see the babies climbing the screen of my back porch i love matids.
