omg Jimi...I went to feed my Prince the other day and I had...a hide in his tank and it is really heavy since he is big his tank and hide are big. Well I didn't see that he was in shed and right before Jeff tossed the rat in there I said "you know he looks like he may be in shed." about that time he tossed in the rat and shut the door. Well, Prince has ate in shed before so I said "well I'll just let it go and see if he takes it." No. he did NOT want it. so I told Jeff..."well you gotta get it out of there." All the sudden when I opened the door I heard the scariest noise EVER! The rat had gone into the hide and was sitting on top of Prince...scared to death...and Prince is got his mouth opened FULLY and hissing like crazy! I could feel the air moving around in his tank! He was p!ssed! lol. So of course we were like uhhh...I don't wanna put my hands in there! but it HAD to be done! It took us 30 minutes to get that dannng rat outta there and he was hissing the WHOLE time! It was so funny! He wanted everybody and thing out of his bubble! lol.

Needless to say...He no longer has a hide! lol! and he ate 2 rats the other day and is now a happy camper!
Wow, MeMe--that's scary for sure! Do you have a pair of hemostats or tongs at all? It might come in handy for removing mice/rats quickly in such dangerous situations (although I've never used them on a -live- mouse or rat, so I'm not sure if it would be harmful to the mouse/rat?).
