    lookie what I found!

I hope this is in the right spot

My kids came to me about 2 weeks ago and told me they had found a bird nest in our shed. It is in a nail box on the top shelf of this wooden rack. So I went out there and checked it out and I was going to take pics but my batteries (all 6 rechargables) were dead and I was going to take some later but just forgot. Well Jeff and I were sitting on the deck and I told him we should go check on the nest. This time I had my camera I found that the eggs had hatched and there were tiny babies inside! Thank goodness momma wasn't there!

O I forgot to mention...The first time opened the shed to see the eggs I lifted the nail box and Momma darted out towards my face! Scared me to death! So I snapped a couple of pics but I only got 1 good one because of the light and they are so tiny and...I was scared of being attacked and wanted to get the hell outta dodge! lol. So here are a couple of pics.

I can see 3 in there but I know there were at least 5 eggs so they may be under these.

    enjoy

    Aww!

There's a Wren nest in one of my work boots outside of my front door, the babies are getting so big that they practically push each other out of the nest!

Awesome. I love baby birds. I always feed them with my extras from the mealworm colony. leave a dish nearby and momma will take them to the nest. Awesome stuff! Thanks for sharing and I look forward to more pics

Awww how cute! We've been watching a baby robin (the last couple days on our walk to school) and the one time I took my camera the baby wasn't anywhere to be seen. Of course, it was a fledging and may have hopped the nest. grrrr

Hehe, I do the same. I've given the momma Wren in my garage so many worms... I'll be amazed if those babies can fly their fat butts out of the nest!

I am hoping to catch a few good pics of them as they grow. it will be cool for my kids anyway! I will go get a few mealworms and put them in there for her! I am sure she will appreciate it!

I actually thought it was a nest that we found last year in an empty planter so when I pulled it down and saw the eggs n there I was hoping I hadn't hurt them! I am glad they hatched! But I am sure there were at least 5 so hopefully I will catch them all next time!

I wonder how long it takes for them to hop out on their own?

ok so here are a few updated pics of the babies!

I am thinking they are about 2 weeks old now. you can see that they are starting to get their "big" feathers and starting to open their eyes! I can also see that there are in fact 5-6 in there. Mom is doing an excellent job!

    enjoy!

They grow up so fast, just look at all those feathers.

That is very cool...I love watching animals grow up. It always amazes me to watch from birth, feathers (or fur ), open eyes and soon off on their own. Thanks for sharing
