Which Lizard is best when it comes to handling?

I currently only have expirience with snakes and I'd like to get a few lizards over this summer. I was just wondering which lizards are most tolerant of handling? I hear Bearded Dragons actually enjoy the attention but idk how true that is, but they are beatiful animals :]

Bearded dragons were one of the first ones that came to mind.. also leopard geckos. Beardies eat a lot more than leos and require special lighting.. they also get much larger, so therefore they're quite a bit more expensive to keep.

Acanthurus (ackie) monitors are a dwarf species of monitor that are considered a good pet species.

My cresties are good about being held. They do occasionally try to jump, but it's very obvious to tell when they're about the do so and you just put your hand in front of them. They also don't run very fast, so if they do jump, you just have to grab them back up.

Oh yeah.. how could I forget about crested geckos? I'm going to be beaten. lol

i'd say leos are a good choice for a beginner lizard that is easily handled. cresteds are also obviously great, but they do jump so aren't quite as easy. if you get cresteds while they are young or get ones that have been handled a lot they are easy to tame though.

well keeping temps and lighting aren't an issue for me because im used to having snakes so I think i'll go for a bearded. .:] thanks

beardies are awesome, just be prepared to feed a LOT!

haha yeah thats fine, im also used to feeding a dog 3 times a day so feeding just isn't a problem for me, especialy for such a cool looking animal :]

Leos or fat tail geckos are easy to care for and generally do good with handling. Fat tails tend to be more layed back then leos.

Beardies would be your best bet for your first lizard!
