    Cheap substrate in Southern California

I can't afford to keep on paying for cypress mulch and always having to change it when it's only available from the commericial pet stores. Garden stores don't carry it out here for some reason.

What kind of substrate do you guys use? I need something that'll hold humidity fairly well and will be healthy for the snakes. Any suggestions?

lol, yea we got wal-mart but they don't carry cypress out here. Strange huh? I'm from the east coast and you could buy it like it was going out of style there... here it's only reptile shops and it's expensive as all get out.
