    turtles in tubs

How many of you keep turtles in plastic tubs? I have my RES in a 29 gallon tank right now and it is too heavy to move easily when it comes time for cleaning day. I have an extra christmas tree tub and was wondering if there would be any problem with using that as an enclosure.
    lots of snakes

Just remember the depth of the water should be one and a half of their shell's width, deep. I keep my male in a 55 galon rubbermaid he is about 7 or 8 inches long.

Will deeper water pose a problem?

Make sure that the sides of the tub do not buckle under the weight of the water. A RES is a rather big turtle and needs deep water.

just rember aquitic turts need 10gallons per 1 inch. so a 8 inch turt needs a 80 gallon tank. this is not my opinion it is what i have read on countless books and caresheets.

At least for most species the thing about needing vey shallow water is a myth. Deeper water is perfectly safe and they love being able to swim - just make sure they have lots of haul outs taht are easy to reach and that there are no hazards in teh water.
