    Arrow Different species in mind

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(I tend to change my mind on what i want to purchase up to the day i buy it lol )

I'm not going to get the Haitian Brown Tarantula (Phormictopus cancerides).

instead I'm deciding between Huahini Birdspider (Chilobrachys huahini), King Baboon (Citharischius crawshayi) and Goliath Pinktoe (Avicularia braunshauseni).

I realize some maybe none of these have the same personality as the P cancerides (per se because all tarantulas have different personalities). but these are my new choices and hopefully I'll have maybe one or two of these by this friday. More than likely I'll be getting the A. Braunshauseni so I'm got my long catch cup ready because I know first hand that the pink toes are very flightly lol...what's everyones opinions on these??

    Re: Different species in mind

The only one I know anything about is c. crawshayi. They have needs similar to your h. gigas, and are kind of a pet hole, the way most burrowers are. They live around 15 years or so, assuming you get a female, can throw an impressive threat display, and can stridulate their front legs to hiss (so can h. gigas).

I know that the braunshauseni is supposed to be the largest of the avicularia in the hobby, and are supposed to be more defensive than most of the other avics, in general.

any chilobrachys is considered pretty defensive, but i dont know much about them. C.crawshayi could be a good species, but is VERY defensive and the females get BIG.as for the goliath pink toe, they are the most agressive out of the pink toe species.
