    market for lepord geckos

i have been in love with geckos for a long time now. i think it would be cool to have a few around. is there still a great market. i know bd's took a huge dive some years back and have not recovered yet. i just wanted to know if some of the lepord gecko breedrs here are able to sell you babies off every year. and make a little extra $. i know with my bd's after the large food bill you barely break even.

    Re: market for lepord geckos

last season i bred 3 SHTCT females to a SHTCTB male. i was able to sell the offspring fairly quickly with no problem. this season i decided that breeding the leos took too much time away from breeding cresteds and sold all my holdbacks and the original breeders, again, quite easily. i do still have one girl left, but really that's because i haven't advertised her as much. (i kept the male, to be a pet because i can't not have a leo in the collection ). prices have definitely come down for the more common morphs/colors but it is still possible to make some profit. if you figure in the cost of the breeders, supplies, food, racks, etc. i'm not sure how much profit it will be, but a lot of that depends on what kind of numbers and what morphs you go with.

thanks verry much. i am just doing some reading one them. i have read that some breeders keep about 1.11 in a 60 gallon reptile tank. and have verry good success. even if i broke even it would just be fun to have around.

wow that's a lot of leos in one tank! they are a ton of fun and the hatchlings are the cutest things and fun to watch grow. i still miss breeding them, but i just had to cut back on them for the sake of time.
