Moved to anacondas forum.
Quite a story.. you really don't hear many stories of wild snakes attacking people. I am glad the kid is ok.

I am glad that I came across this thread as I was just going to make the same thread. Interesting that after a struggle taking a half hour, the boy wasn't killed. I am glad that he is okay, especially because I wouldn't want anacondas to be put into the record of "man-killers."

No, they are only elephant-killers, so there's no worry for humans.

Interesting story but I imagine this kid had to've antagonized the anaconda for it to just attack him.

Poor snake; killed for going after a prey item. People need to exercise more caution while exploring and enjoying nature, IMO.

Dont be so quick to judge the kid could have mearly gotten to close not even knowing the snake was there.

I dont feel bad for the snake in this case, humans are not in the food chain of any snake. When a snake attacks a human it cross's the line same as say a bear and is delt with. I have a great love of snakes but wouldnt think twice about killing one that was endangering my daughters life.

Yeah.. you know how well condas camoflague themselves. They'd be darn near invisible in their natural environment. As we all know, snakes are ambush hunters as well. I don't think the kid did anything wrong.. how dumb would you have to be to provoke a 16' boa anyway? Kids that are raised in areas where dangerous animals abound are going to be taught by their parents to avoid them.
