Need help choosing

I do not think I’m ready for a Cobalt Blue Tarantula (Haplopelma lividum). However I have changed my choices to the following. can you experienced ones kind of choose one so i can decide. (please let me know if any of the following are not borrowers I made a tub for a burrower not a aboreal one thanks):

Mexican Red Rump (Brachypelma vagans)
Cameroon Red Baboon (Hysterocrates gigas)
Giant Black and White (Acanthoscurria brocklehursti)
Giant White Knee Tarantula (Acanthoscurria geniculata)
Curly Hair Tarantula (Brachypelma albopilosum)
Brazilian Giant Blonde (Nhandu vulpinus)



How I picked these ones:

- I only want certain sizes
- also I did it by price
- I only want burrowers
- And I did it by how aggressive they are

The only one on your list that I have is the a. geniculata. Great display spider, nearly always out in plain view. They do some burrowing. Mine has tended to hole up in a burrow when it is about to molt. Somewhat nervous/skittish, although I have never had it flick hairs at me while doing cage maintenance; mine will run and hide. Excellent eater.


If you aren't ready for the h. lividum, I would probably avoid the hysterocrates gigas. Old world tarantulas as a rule are more defensive.

The only one of those that is an olbigate burrower is H. gigas, but, as was said, if you feel you're not ready for a lividum, you won't be ready for a gigas either. They are just as fiesty as lividum, get twice as large and are more finicky about their envoriments.

The rest are all pretty eaty to care for. B. albo. will probably burrow if given the oppertunity. I have several, some WC, some CB, my WC adult female stays burrowed all the time, my little ones will burrow but are also out a lot more.

Vagans is more of a top ground dweller. They will burrow sometimes if given the oppertunity, but generally they are content with a hide.
Brocklehursti are very much like genic, only differing slightly in their color distinction.
Vulpinus is a nice spider, flighty and a bit of a spaz, more so than the others.

If I had to choose...hmmm, I'd choose the gigas....but I like OWers and mean, fiesty spiders.
I have cared for all of these species and have enjoyed all of them. I think that the genic or brodklehursti would probably be higher on my list than the Brachys....but that's me.
