    Spinach ok for a beardie?

I looked at the caresheet to see, and most of the veggies listed I've never heard of.

I wouldn't feed it much, if at all. It contains oxalates that will bind calcium absorption, rending it useless.

It's best to feed dark, leafy greens such as endive, escarole, green/red leaf lettuce(not much though), green/red swiss chard, carrot tops, mustard/turnip greens, kale, cilantro, parsley. You can also feed squash, peas, beans, bell peppers, etc. Occassional fruit is ok too such as strawberries, cantaloupe, but feed sparingly.

You could also start up a roach colony, as they are much less likely to pass parasites(such as coccidia and pinworms) to your Beardie, and have a higher meat to shell ratio(Meaty = happy, full beardie).

Here's a great beardie website and this page has just about every fruit or veggie you can think of listed and given a rating as to whether its ok or not...

    Spinach is listed as "questionable"...

"Weeeell blow me down." /Whistles Popeye the Sailorman.

Spinach is a bad thing, like said earlier it binds calcium. When I had my beardie he was getting collard greens, mustard greens, kale, squash, occasional dandelions from pesticide/herbicide free source....other than that they can sure down roaches and crickets.

Outside of breeding them yourself, can you buy roaches at normal pet stores? Is it safe to?

Don't see why it wouldn't be safe to buy roaches specifically bred as feeders. Good luck finding them, though. I'm sure there's some stores that have them, but I've not had any luck so far...it's pretty uncommon, even in stores that breed tons of crix and rodents.
