    Wanna see my new Mali?

Yup just got a new Mail Uromastyx a couple days ago. i really like him. so im looking for some critique on my setup. Black sand, temp is 100 range. seems happy thus far. i think he is a bit dehydrated though. Can i put water in with him? ive read to the effect that water is bad with mali's. and have been told not to put a water dish in with him, is that wise? also is there diffrent types of mali's? cause all the ones i've seen have been grey or brown with light yellows or pinks. this is black with really yellow bottom. does the look differ to gender? any ways on to the pics

Also did i mention that he is really mean? and that he is two years old.

    thanx

    Great looking Mali!!

The setup is great. The colors on him tell me that he is pretty certain to be a he. Females do not tend to be that yellow on the back; normally very drab in color.
I would not put any water bowls in the enclosure as this could increase the humidity in the cage. The best to feed them is plenty of dark leafy greens. Such as; red-leaf lettuce, green-leaf lettuce, kale, collared, mustard, and turnip greens, and dandelions. I would caution against too much spinach and broccoli as they contain lots of oxalates. These bind with the calcium and the animal does not get any of it.
I also feed mine bird seed as well as navy beans and lentils.
