Smallest tank you can have a B/W tegu in? Couple of other ?'s too.

Well i was looking around and my friend whats to sell me a 3-4 foot long b/w tegu and i was wondering what size of tank do i need for it? now i have a 30 gallon but i have a feeling it is to small, but i just want to make sure before i go buy or make a new one. Also do b/w tegus are there any really thing special for them? Special habitats? I am new that explains all the questions. Well thanks. Later.

Tegus really aren't made to live in tanks.. as babies it's ok, but an adult tegu is going to need a custom enclosure. Preferably something 8' long by 4' wide.. bigger is better! You also want considerable depth as tegus like to dig around in the dirt.. it's helpful to have a foot or two of substrate for them.

A 30 gallon tank is only 3' long.. a 4' lizard isn't going to live in there.

Tegus also need UVA/UVB lighting.. you need the tubes, not the bulbs, which are worthless for full spectrum lighting. Tegus need to eat fruits as well as meat. The only species of tegu which does not require fruit is the blue tegu.
